Transcategorization phenomena with other pos-values

Conjunctions constitute an open class: the same elements can be used as conjunctions, prepositions, adverbs (see also under adverbs and prepositions).

Conjunction: Ti sentirai tranquillo, dopo aver sostenuto l'esame
Adposition (Preposition): Ti sentirai tranquillo dopo l'esame
Adverb: Sostenuto l'esame, dopo ti sentirai tranquillo

- conjunction: the conjoined sentence is in dependency relation with the governing predicate;
- preposition: the argument is an NP;
- adverb: it semantically modifies the whole sentence and the predicate in particular.

Confusions can be made between the values conjunction and noun, conjunction and adjective, conjunction and pronoun, conjunction and determiner, conjunction and adverb, conjunction and adposition,
