Type of project: National | Start date: 01/07/2014 | End date: 30/06/2017
This is a project in line with ESFRI (European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructure) and the Integrated Infrastructures Initiative (I3) of the EC-DG Research and Innovation (EC-DG R&I).
Through the coordinating role of the CNR-DSU, the project will plan and implement new coordinated actions within major national and European infrastructures operating in the Social Sciences and Humanities, Cultural Heritage (SSHCH) sectors, such as CLARIN-ERIC, DARIAH-ERIC, CHARISMA, ESS-ERIC and SHARE-ERIC.
The project is initiated by DSU, the CNR department for the SSHCH sectors.
It will operate in close cooperation with the departments of mathematical, physical-chemical and natural sciences of CNR and will trigger involvement of public and private entities at the national and the international level. Instrumental and virtual access services to research infrastructures will be expanded among an interdisciplinary SSHCH stakeholders community (researchers, students, policy makers, SMEs, end-users).
Further actions planned by the project that contribute to the objectives of the European Research Area, are: (i) training for skills development, (ii) joint research activities in the field of KETs for the build-up of infrastructure, (iii) networking, (iv) technology transfer and (v) dissemination of results.
The project will make it possible to (a) share scientific and human resources in order to skimp on resources and maximize investment in RI, and (b) aggregate the interdisciplinary scientific community with the aim of to promoting synergies for the solution of common scientific and technological issues.
The main result will be the strengthening of national RI and the participation of Italy as a member in the already established ERIC (CLARIN, ESS, SHARE) and those ones under development (DARIAH).
This framework will be the ideal environment for the preparation of the kick off of IPERION-CH, a I3 project that will be presented as a CHARISMA follow-up in H2020, aiming at establishing an ERIC in science applied to cultural heritage and having its international headquarters in Italy.
At the national level, the integrated management of RI will be a connective tissue to coordinate actions in order to achieve the objectives of the Smart Cities and Communities thematic.
