From the above, the following parameters can be derived:
- Depth of description: which lexical information types?
- Breadth of description: fragment coverage
(single exemplary word
classes vs. broad coverage of all classes).
- Language coverage.
- Degree of formalisation (from less to more formal):
- Inventory of labels (list of descriptive devices);
- Definition of a vocabulary (as in formal languages);
- Control of consistency within the vocabulary, e.g. through
typing and constraints on appropriateness;
- Full specification defining also the interaction of the
descriptive devices for individual classes of lexical objects.
The work on morphosyntax and on subcategorisation can be summarised, along
these parameters, in table 2, below:
Parameter | Morphosyntax | Subcategorisation |
References | (several reports) | (Synlex report) |
Information types | category | phrase types, |
| morphosyntactic features | grammatical functions, |
| | complement-argument linking |
Word classes | all | verbs |
Languages | EU languages | generic, EU languages |
