Preliminary Recommendations

Aspect

This attribute is used in combination with the attributes of Tense and Mood for the appropriate and unique characterisation of tense of all forms (simple and compound) in Greek.

Attribute Value Gr. example Gr. tag
Aspect imperfective eghrafa VbFiIdPa01SgIp
perfective eghrapsa VbFiIdPa01SgPe
(perfect) (ehw ghrapsei) (VbFiIdPa01SgPf)

The value perfect is not used in the Morphological Lexicon. It is supplied for future use of the annotation system, in order to appropriately distinguish the various simple and compound forms in the Greek tense system.

Below, we give a table showing the formation of various verbal finite forms in all combinations of mood, tense and aspect, only for the active voice. Compound forms and the tags they should take, if recognised by a multiword tagger, are put inside parentheses.
